Protecting Your Tax Dollars

  • Orland 135 has one of the lowest tax rates and debt ratios in Cook County.
  • Reorganized administrative staff for ongoing savings of over $1 million annually.
  •  Orland 135 has one of the the fewest number of administrators to students, fourth best in Cook County.

Keeping Kids and Staff Safe

  • Continuous building improvements to keep safety at the forefront.
  • Strong partnerships with The Orland Park Police Department and Fire Protection District.
  • District 135 has achieved perfect scores in the last four Health, Life, Safety audits.

Providing High Quality Education

  • D135 has 10 schools and the State Board of Education recognized 2 as Exceptional and 8 as Commendable.
  • Taxpayer money is spent on kids in the classroom. D135 is ranked in the top 10 districts statewide for percent of budget going to classroom education.
  • New 8th grade transition program launched to insure OSD135 kids’ success in High School.
  • Launched STARS Before and After school program to provide quality care and education opportunities for all kids.

Transparency and Community Involvement

  • The entire student curriculum is available for anyone to review in the district office.
  • D135 leads in public transparency. Board and Committee meetings are live-streamed and available to view online. 
  • All meeting minutes, budgets, contracts, etc. are online.
  • Superintendent search process included multiple forums for parents, community members and elected officials from other local agencies. 
  • Board Advisory Committees implemented in 2019 consisting of Community Members, Parents, Teachers and Administrators with Special Committees formed for Standards Based Grading, Policy Handbook, Food and Dietary guidelines.
